J A C Q U E M U S, Boldness + sophistication

Jacquemus is a fashion brand founded in 2009 by French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus.
A self-taught designer, Jacquemus attended the Paris fashion school for only 3 months, but still is considered a wonderful discovery for the fashion world.  Before starting his own brand, Jacquemus gained experience working at Cosme des Garcons and Maison Martin Margiela. This opened many doors to creative development and encouraged him to find his own style.
Jacquemus is a daring, surrealist and, above all, an sophisticated designer.  It is a delight to be able to observe the construction of each one of his garments, which largely reflect his more artistic side, surrounded by daring volumes, uncomplicated silhouettes and encompass a very extensive vision and know-how of the female body.
By deconstructing classic apparel and turning them into majestic pieces,The new designs are versatile, sophisticated and daring. Although his designs may be bold, they have left many wanting more, and because of this in 2015 he won the prestigious LVMH prize.

I wouldn't say that Jacquemus has achieved the perfect combination between the artistic and the commercial, because if that were the case, the brand would be meaningless.  However, I would like to think and deduce that the brilliant designer has found a way to appreciate new proposals and ideas, and above all managed to stay true to his style and creative development. By incorporating shapes, silhouettes and unexpected materials into his designs, Jacquemus consistently shows us what his style is really all about.
The styling used in their parades, campaigns and editorials is undoubtedly one of the reasons that has led to their rapid rise. The brand in general has a quite PROVOKING vision that, in my opinion, it reflects what the designer has projected: a challenging attitude towards the parameters of the commercial, aesthetic and academic.
The creation of timeless, imposing and suggestive pieces is really an oddity with which he has managed to deal with in the best possible way, ART.

With only 27 years of age, Jacquemus has managed to position himself at the top of the designers of this generation and his future as a designer should be astonishing.
